It’s been a minute, but it’s nice to be back.
Time for another Friday Fictioneers entry. The challenge is to write a 100-word story in response to a weekly photo prompt chosen by our host Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. Follow the link to her blog for more information. Thank you to all who take the time to read, like, or comment.

Trick or Treat
Remember sleepless nights?
Fuelled by adrenaline.
Soundtracked by a heartbeat.
Ears registering sounds never heard in the house by day.
Shadows dancing before eyes that long for dawn’s first rays.
Now, if Michael, Freddy, and Jason came bursting in, I’d roll over and ask for five more minutes.
Mundanity becomes adequate.
Ambition, irrelevant.
Potential can go wasted.
Why create when you can idle?
Why love when you can float?
Once upon a time, a frightened little boy made a desperate wish.
But if you lose all fear, are you really alive?
What a terrifying thought.
Somewhere, the bogeyman is laughing.
