Hello. It’s time for another Friday Fictioneers entry. The challenge is to write a 100-word story in response to a weekly photo prompt chosen by our host Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. Follow the link to her blog for more information. Thank you to all who take the time to read, like, or comment.

Exasperated

“Don’t do that,” he groaned.

“What?”

“Don’t take off your glasses and pinch the bridge of your nose. We both know you’re only pretending to look exasperated.”

“It’s the glasses wearer’s only superpower: it protects us from being robbed blind,” I grinned. “How much this time?”

“£20 would do, I guess.”

I held up two notes.

“Here’s double if you can spell that fancy ‘exasperated’ word you used earlier.”

The money was snatched; my cheek kissed; the front door slammed, before I registered the answer:

“I’ll text it to you. Love you Dad!”

Superpower? Ha! That kid was pure kryptonite.

    Dear Thom,

Kids know how to wrap us around their pinkie fingers, don’t they? Good one.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle
