Rebirth

A woman was screaming.

He wanted to comfort her, but he was already drifting away.

He saw the world from a distance. He understood the universe and his place within it. He drifted further until the darkness enveloped him.

A woman was screaming.

Cold, blinding light replaced the warmth of his dark slumber.

Air rushed to his lungs. Now he was screaming.

Somebody held him close.

Everything felt so familiar.

Sweet liquid hit his tongue and he drank hungrily.

He opened his eyes and saw a face he had never met but instantly recognised.

He felt safe, and slept.

That was an extraordinarily brave thing to attempt in 100 words. And it works. Well done!
