The Trading Post

The Trading Post.

Take what you need.
Leave something of yourself.

Antiques. Beads. Jewelry.

The spelling jarred against my English upbringing.

Why am I always so uptight? I made a mental note to conduct a ceremonial burning of the self-help book I had been reading: Travel and Meditation for the New You. It clearly wasn’t working.

“I need a new life,” I said to the proprietor, a woman whose age was difficult to determine.

“And what can you trade?”

“My old one.”

Her smile was sharp and white.

“The roof tiles need fixing. Let’s start there.”

    Dear Thom,

I wonder if this is close to what he had in mind? Good one.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle
