Escape

“You said you had a plan,” I yelled, panic rising.

“I do.” They gestured towards the tiny door carved into the base of the tree. “We’re going through.”

“But…it’s impossible,” I stammered.

“Morgan,” they replied. “If you’re going to believe in any of this, you need to start now. If you don’t, we’re going to get caught. And if that happens…” They trailed off.

I looked again at the door. Magic makes the impossible possible, I thought.

The shouts were getting closer.

“Morgan,” Indigo’s voice was calm as they took my hand. “Let’s go.”

I reached for the handle.
