The challenge of Friday Fictioneers is to write a 100-word story in response to a weekly photo prompt chosen by our host Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. Check out her blog for more information by clicking here. This week I have written a two-part story in an effort to catch up on recent photo prompts I have missed. This is Part 1. Thank you to all who take the time to read, like, or comment.

“I must go,” she said, placing a finger on his lips to stop his protestations. “Your nurse will be with you in a few hours.”
“I used to be so strong,” he lamented. “How cruel for that strength to fail me, now that I have you.”
She paused at the door.
“I will be with you until the end. I promise.”
